Fiona Fitzpatrick
Hello,
My name is Fiona Fitzpatrick and I am the founder and director of Arts Psychotherapies UK Community Interest Company. I set up the company in 2018 after working several years as a freelance Art Therapist.
Prior to becoming an Art Therapist I worked as an arts practitioner, project manager within the cultural sector in North East of England for 25 years. I love creativity in all its forms.
I am interested and passionate about how the arts therapies as a multi modal, psychosomatic approach can benefit a persons mental health and wellbeing. And so Arts Psychotherapies UK was born.

It’s my ambition to open an Arts Therapies Centre within the North East for collaborations , clinical practise, creativity, workshops and shared learning.

I am passionate about how the creative process can heal and change a person, helping to understand ourselves and our circumstances & behaviour and with this awareness find acceptance and heal from suffering.
I am a trauma focused therapist and have an interest in neuroscience and how the brain evolves and protects us from suffering and how neuroplasticity is such a powerful ability to learn, study and share.
With a focus on trauma work I am trained in CATT – children’s accelerated trauma treatment and EMDR . I use both CATT and EMDR when appropriate alongside my Art Therapy practise.
Dreams, symbols, metaphors, fairytales, stories guide my practise and my life as does meditation and present moment awareness.
I am always interested in talking to other registered Arts Therapists & organisations about collaborations. Such as wellbeing workshops for staff both corporate and voluntary sector or introduction to arts therapies perhaps. Or anyone wanting to ask more about this type of psychotherapy and if it might help you or someone you know.
I am honoured to do the work I do and hear people’s stories and witness the bravery and strength that we show in adversity and this journey of life.
